It’s that time of year again. Time to blow your New Year Resolution with Girl Scout Cookies! Just kidding. This year the Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council is bringing back its Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge and there are even a few Travel Diet friendly creations (no joke) in the bunch!
The Travel Diet is excited to be able to offer a $25 gift card to Flower Child and a $25 gift card to Drexyl Modern American our loyal readers. To enter head on over to our Instagram account, @denaroche and comment on the two dessert photos found in this article from Feb. 1- Feb. 28, 2017.
I have a soft spot for the Girl Scouts. I’m a member of Troop Pearl, a group of dynamic women in Phoenix who help mentor girls and network with each other, and I’m a former Brownie and Girl Scout. My father was on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts in Milwaukee. And of course, before I became a health nut, I enjoyed Samoas, Thin Mints, and Tagalongs waaaaaaay too much.
The 4th Annual Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge lets some of the best chefs in the Valley unleash their creativity to re-imagine one of the beloved flavors of Girl Scout cookies – Do-Si-Dos, Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Trefoils, Toffee-tastics and Savannah Smiles – into a custom dessert menu item.
Each restaurant will feature its dessert on the menu from February 1 to February 28, 2017, with a portion of the proceeds from each dessert sold directly supporting Girl Scouting.
The Travel Diet is especially excited by the gluten-free offering at all Flower Child locations. Designed by Peder Bondhus, the Toffee-tastic Chocolate Pudding features the Toffee-tastic cookie. I also love the Tagalong Cookie Dark Chocolate Sphere designed by Scott Paget for Drexyl Modern American. Not only is it filled with antioxidants; it’s the most beautiful dessert in the challenge.
Don’t forget to enter to win a $25 gift card to Flower Child and a $25 gift card to Drexyl Modern American our loyal readers. To enter head on over to our Instagram account, @denaroche and comment on the two dessert photos found in this article from Feb. 1- Feb. 28, 2017.
The contest will hopefully inspire home cooks to buy an extra box or two this Girl Scout cookie season to create their own desserts. Girl Scout Cookies are available from Jan. 23 to March 5 this year. As in recent years, the Girl Scouts will have all cookies on hand for immediate customer purchase. Locations of cookie booths can be found by downloading the app Cookie Finder or by visiting girlscoutcookies.org.
