Great food, great treatments, great service and great antiques? Hmmm, one of those things in not something I normally associate with a great destination spa, but at Cal-a-Vie, its par for the course.
Cal-a-Vie is an exclusive spa just north of San Diego that pampers guests in a setting that is more Provence than Pacific. The décor is all French Country and each space has its own character thanks to the handpicked antiques that owners Terri and John Havens have decorated the spa with. In fact, guests so often wanted to take home the 18th Century French desk in their room as a souvenir that Cal-a-Vie opened its own antique store on property late last year.
The store specializes in 18th and 19th Century pieces. Items in the store have included a pair of mercury glass vases with flower motif dating back to 1880, a painted Louis XVI-style commode with marble top circa 1820, and a Venetian mirror with grain shell and flower motif.
