First Marriott AC Hotel to Open in Western U.S.
Tempe has been the location for hotels to roll out in. Last month Moxy opened it’s first US hotel here, and this month AC Hotels, Marriott’s European-inspired brand, opens its first hotel in the Western US in Tempe. The AC Phoenix Tempe/Downtown (that’s a mouthful!) opens in late May.
The AC Hotel is the first hotel to open on the shores of Tempe Town Lake. AC Hotels were originally created as a boutique property from hotelier Antonio Catalan with a focus on modern design and Spanish soul. Marriott partnered with AC in 2011 and took the brand from Spain, Italy and Portugal to the world.
AC hotels are minimalistic and unfussy, giving the guest everything they need and nothing they don’t (no inflated resort fees here!) The AC Phoenix Tempe/Downtown has a muted monochromatic color scheme throughout its public and 159 guest rooms. The hotel has a local flavor being designed by HKS Phoenix and using local art on its walls.
A signature element of the hotel includes an innovative beverage and food program at the AC Lounge. A twist on the traditional hotel bar, the experience includes local craft beers, specialty wines on tap, expertly made signature cocktails and a selection of tapas-style small bites.
Located adjacent to the AC Lounge, the AC Kitchen serves a European-inspired continental breakfast with a selection of flaky croissants, freshly sliced artisanal La Quercia prosciutto and Nespresso coffee (my favorite). All of which can be enjoyed indoors or on the outdoor patio.
Stay tuned for a more in-depth review of AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe/Downtown when the hotel opens later this month.
AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe/Downtown is located at 100 E. Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe, Arizona.
